Chessington Community College occupies an attractive site in the South of the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames and serves the community as an 11-18 co-educational school. It is just 12 years since the College adopted its new name and status and in that period it has developed a tradition of continuous academic success at both GCSE and 'A' level. As a result, it has grown rapidly, doubling its student role in that time. In 1996 this success was acknowledged with the College being mentioned in Her Majesty's Chief Inspector's Annual Report to the Government as an improved school and this was followed by a visit by the then Minister for Education. Our 1998 OFSTED Inspection Report and 2004 OFSTED Inspection Report (please click here to review the summary report) have confirmed the good progress that the College has made, and examination results show that the College continues to be successful.
The education offered at Chessington Community College is designed to realise the true potential of a child, regardless of ability. If a child has a high academic capability they are identified quickly and their progress closely monitored. This is reflected in the high number of children gaining A*-C grades at GCSE. Equally if a child has learning difficulties additional support is given from an experienced team of specialists. The College prides itself on its high standards of personal achievement, appearance and good discipline, and promotes the qualities of care, courtesy and consideration for others at all times. As the College lies in the south of the borough it runs it own mini bus service for pupils who do not live within easy reach of the College. The College is only 12 minutes by train from Wimbledon, the Chessington South Station being located by the side of the College.
The Principal is keen for parents to see the calm working atmosphere within the College during the school day, and as such prospective parents are invited to make an appointment for a daytime tour. For an appointment telephone the Admissions Secretary on 0208 974 1156
